TUMO Camp rules of conduct
1.1. General Behavior
- Respectful Conduct: Campers are expected to treat fellow campers, staff and volunteers with respect at all times. Bullying, harassment or any form of discriminatory behavior will not be accepted.
- Teamwork and Cooperation: Campers should work together, help each other and encourage positive teamwork during activities and throughout the camp.
- Appropriate Language: Using appropriate language and avoiding offensive or inappropriate language/remarks is critical. This includes both verbal and non-verbal communication.
- No Violence: Fighting, physical aggression or any form of violence is strictly prohibited. Campers must always act in a friendly and cooperative manner.
1.2. Safety and Supervision
- Follow Staff Instructions: Always listen to and follow instructions given by Camp Staff, Workshop Leaders and Coordinators. They are there to ensure your safety and the smooth running of the camp.
- Buddy System: Campers should always stay with their group or designated buddy/Coordinator. Solo wandering or leaving the designated area without permission is not allowed.
1.3 Camp Property and Environment
- Respect Camp Property: Treat all camp equipment, supplies, and facilities with care. Damaging camp property or the property of others is prohibited.
- No Littering: Dispose of trash properly. Littering on Camp grounds or in nature is not allowed.
1.4 Camp Activities and Participation
- Active Participation: All campers should actively participate in camp activities unless excused by a staff member for health reasons.
- Attendance at Scheduled Events: Campers are required to attend all scheduled events and activities unless there is a prior agreement with the representative.
- Substance Use: The use of any illegal substances, including drugs, alcohol, or tobacco, is strictly prohibited during the Camp.
1.5. Respecting Camp Staff and Peers
- Respect Privacy and Personal Space: Respect each other’s privacy, personal space, and belongings and always ask before borrowing something from another camper.
- Gender and Cultural Respect: Everyone must respect each other’s cultural, gender, and religious differences. Inclusivity is fundamental to creating a positive Camp environment.
1.6. Meal and Snack Times
- Respect Meal Times: Be on time for all meals and adhere to the camp’s designated mealtime schedule. Food should be eaten in the designated dining areas unless specified otherwise.
- Dietary Restrictions: Any dietary restrictions or allergies must be communicated to Camp Staff ahead of time. Campers are expected to follow these dietary guidelines for their health and safety.
1.7. Consequences of Misbehavior
If a Camper does not follow the rules above or has difficulty with any part of these expectations the following steps will be taken depending on the severity and continuation of the behavior:
- A Camper will receive an immediate caution from the Camp Staff member or Manager, sharing the reasons for the caution and what would have been more appropriate behavior from the Camper
- The Camper will receive a verbal warning
- The Camper will have a follow up discussion with the Camp Manage.
- The Camp Manager will communicate with the camper’s family (or representative) and set up a meeting between the family, camper, and a Camp manager to talk through continued participation in the program.
Removal from the Camp is a possibility depending on the severity and continuation of the behavior or action.The Camp Manager may decide to skip some of these steps if necessary.
